My Brain

Your Brain's Pattern
You have a dreamy mind, full of fancy and fantasy. You have the ability to stay forever entertained with your thoughts.People may say you're hard to read, but that's because you're so internally focused. But when you do share what you're thinking, people are impressed with your imagination.

NEW HAIR DAY

Well I took the plunge today and went to the hairdressers, I was really pleased with the resulting hair cut - Thanks John (of FOXES in Beckenham) you made me feel really good, ready to face the 46th birthday that is galloping towards me LOL.
He has made my hair a manageable length so that when I am swimming etc. and have to leave it in it's natural state (curly) it will look good.! I will then return to him in September and have a new look altogether.
Excuse the photos but I aimed the camera myself and just clicked - I don't like having photo taken at the best of times so accept apologies.

Laminating and Tattoos!

Yesterday I purchased my QK machine, so I shall have some fun with that soon. I resisted the urge to get stuck into using it when the family were out at football training. I had my heart set on another project, you know how it is, you have a job that you want to do but just dont get around to it, that has been the case with me. I had purchased all the UM stamps and needed to sort them all out, so having started by trimming and then coating with the glue, it was now time to organise.
I am well chuffed with the results, laminated sheets which I had stamped with images and then stuck them on, now they can go into ring binder folder neatly (think I did 25 sheets last night). Amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it (sure my mum always used to say that - must be turning into my mum LOL)!!!

*************************************************************************************
My DH went and had another tattoo done today, one that he has been wanting for a while. He was so anti tattoos before his 40th birthday, now he cant get enough of them!!!
I would dearly love a "Betty Boop" but I am too much of a coward so I cant see that ever happening. Watch this space LOL.

Wedding Guest Book Cover

Today I thought I would do something instead of mooching waiting for parcels, so I set to work on the Wedding Guests Book Cover. I was pleased with the outcome, that is until I showed it to my darling daughter! She looked at it and said "That looks something out of "My big fat Greek Wedding"; bit over the top" My face dropped, and then to add insult to injury my darling son decreed that it looked like it needed a haircut - out of the mouths of babes (or in this case teenagers). I just shrugged and said "Well I like it!!!"

I did receive a parcel today, one that I had forgotten about from Vickie Enkoff (http://www.vickieenkoff.com/) some lovely quality papers and a wicked pair of KAI scissors, they cut through UM Stamps like butter -perfection!

So this evening when my beloved family were out I sat cutting out my UM Stamps.

I am really excited because tomorrow I am going to Crafts U Love, hopefully will get my Quickutz system to take to Spain with me.

Lorraine received her parcel from Paper Whimsy (http://www.paperwhimsy.com/) lucky girl, I shall have to wait and keep fingers crossed for mine, I know that I won't get any post tomorrow as there is another strike by the postmen -DRAT!!!!

Update on wasp nest

Right, here is a picture of the wasp nest when I was loathe to get to close to it - as you can see the wasps were active at this time! NO way I was getting to close to it.

Then this picture was taken the morning after the nest had been sprayed - as you can see it was a beauty! amazing to look at.

After the nest was sprayed I had to get a fishing net and see if any had fallen into my water tank - I DID NOT want to share my bath with these "things" even if they were dead. The picture on the left shows the ones that were fished out - who knows where the rest went because I imagine that there should be a lot more than that due to the size of the nest; maybe today I will venture into the main body of the loft to see if they are dead all over the floor.
That's it for this post, may you all have a wasp free summer....

Happy Days

Today I had a lovely surprise, a phone call from a real good friend with whom I have not spoken for a while. I managed to make contact with her again after finding her daughter on Facebook! marvelous.
Her life is all good, great job, lovely relationship with husband and girls so I am really chuffed for her - she is the type of person who makes friends whereever she goes cos she is so unassuming and friendly - welcome back to my world Bev. Stories that we could tell, that would be a whole new blog!!!
The wasp situation has been resolved - the exterminator came this evening, to my surprise there were 2 nests in 2 different places, so it was a case of spraying and keeping all doors and windows closed. Seems that I will have to wait a few days before venturing into the loft.

NO post again today, but I consoled myself by gardening. There was an abundance of weeds out the front, I think I filled 5 green bags full of weeds; amazing how they grow when all else has ceased growing. C'est la vie I suppose.

China had her first day at her work experience placement. She was well excited but said her feet were totally killing her :-) It was a long day for her 9 - 5.30 instead of the usual school hours. Had to tell her that is why they call it work experience.

Stamford went to the vet this evening to have his rabies jab, so now he is ready for his holiday, not long now Yippee.
That's it for this post

Wasp nest

There I was already to have a nice relaxing bath, when lo and behold I spied some "black bits" floating in the water. I couldn't work out what it was so thought I would check in the loft to see if the water tank was okay. Imagine my surprise when I found a wasp nest, much larger than the one in the image positioned above the water tank. It freaked me out when I realised the "black bits" were wasp body parts - the little darlings had obviously drowned in the water and then disintegrated and appeared in my bath water via the tap!! gross!!!!

Tomorrow I have a man coming to rid me of the little visitors, I shall have to move Enzo my parrot outside to ensure that she is safe whilst the extermination is carried out.

I will let you know how I get on - fingers crossed that I don't get stung!!

If I get the opportunity I shall photograph it to share with you

It's been a while

I cannot believe the time that has passed since I last wrote in my blog (and yes, I am sure that I have written that before too!).
The reason for the lack of entries into my blog is that I have been waiting for parcels. When I am waiting for parcels I cannot settle into anything until the postman has been; then when he arrives with mundane mail for me I can't settle again hoping that the said parcel will arrive the next day - so basically I am in limbo.
I am waiting for a parcel from paper whimsy (www.paperwhimsy.com) as I have joined the yahoo group for the site and want to create some wonderful work just as the artists who subscribe to the group have done! I hope that I can make as good a use of the images as the girls have done. Another parcel I am waiting for is from www.naveljellystudio.com .
My only hope is that they arrive soon as I am off to Spain for 6 weeks on the 22nd July.

Apart from that what else have I been up to?
Shopping at Bluewater - getting stuff for holidays. Reading a good book called The Island by Victoria Hislop; about Crete and the leper colony that used to be on a little Island called Spinalonga - great read, not my usual serial killer/thriller type read.
Dipped in and out of the tennis this week, as and when weather permitted, England has been a washout - so much for Summer.

Two new births to record one in the family to Jenny and Lawson and the other to my neighbours son and his wife; both girls first still to be named, second called Lucinda May which I think is really pretty.

The wedding book is still in progress, but as I said earlier my head has not been on that particular project so I have left it alone.
